You may have heard, we've been having a bit of weather here in Chicago...
Our backyard, pre-shoveling
(notice how only a few inches of the fence are sticking out of the snow!)
Spike was THRILLED with the snowfall!
Anders loved it for a minute...then he got stuck...
The neighbors' shoveling was a little excessive -- Do you really need to clear a patch of grass along side of your sidewalk too? -- but it made for an awesome mountain to climb!
Spike made fast friends with some neighbors who made a sledding hill in their front yard
.
It was pretty steep, but he had no fear!
Anders wanted nothing to do with sledding this time.
Daddy got in on the action.
That's Mr. Bill, our next-door neighbor, coming to say hi. He's been out of town for work, so we haven't seen him much this winter at all. When Isaac saw him, he went running down the sidewalk, arms flung out to his side, and gave Mr. Bill a huge hug. Bill loves Isaac, so he was happy. :)
Let's hear it for good neighbors, eh? It was so fun to be out with everybody on our street this afternoon. I walked by one house and some young guys hollered, "Happy 2011 Blizzard!" We had neighbors snow blow our sidewalk out front and the alley in front of our garage. After sledding, our other neighbors had Isaac in for hot chocolate. They also have a college-aged daughter who wants to babysit, so I will be calling her for sure!
Our dreaded snow day turned out to be fantastic. Tomorrow will be too cold for playing outside, so I'm glad we got some time to do that this afternoon.

These pictures make me smile! Snow days are THE BEST!!!

Fun! I have snow day #2 here (Tom doesn't!) - we may have to plan a phone date during nap time to catch up!
ReplyDeleteWow- that really is crazy and hard to imagine as I wipe sweat from my face :)this post makes me miss chicago though- NOT the snow just the neighborly "we are in this urban living thing together" attitude. Yeah for the chi!
ReplyDeletewhat a blast!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of total joy on Izey's face sliding down the hill, and of course Anders is adorable.

Looks like a lot of fun! We didn't get nearly that much snow in Detroit. My mom was downtown Chicago for the snowstorm and said the thunder and lightning was really cool looking.
