So why Isaac David?

Isaac means laughter. You may recall the Biblical story of Abraham and Sarah, an elderly couple with no children--just a promise from God that their descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky. When they're told to expect a child within the year, Sarah laughs in disbelief. Nine months later, she's laughing with joy at the birth of her baby boy, so they give him a name signifying that joy. Isaac has already brought a wealth of laughter to our lives in his first week of life.

David is another Biblical name, meaning beloved. Remember the little shepherd boy who fought Goliath, became king, and wrote the Psalms? That's the one. More importantly, however, he's named for his daddy's daddy. Fatherhood will certainly have its challenges, but Isaac's dad has had a chance to learn from the best. (We can only hope he was paying attention.)
