Depending on your perspective, this is either the best or worst story of Isaac's night escapades to date. It happened about a week ago.
At 3am I heard Anders crying. I gave him a few minutes to see if he'd go back to sleep, but he just cried harder, so I went downstairs.
The dining room light was on. I knew that meant that Isaac was up. I quickly surveyed the main level and I didn't see him. I peeked in Anders's room and didn't see him there either, but I had to rescue Anders, so I figured I'd grab him and then continue my search. But then I killed two birds with one stone. Upon further inspection of Anders's crib, I found both of my sons inside. Yes. Isaac had climbed into Anders's crib with him.
"What the...? Isaac! What are you doing!? Get out of there! Upstairs! Right now! Zach! I need your help!" Anders was pissed that he had been so rudely awoken and that I wasn't sitting down in the dark to tenderly nurse him back to sleep as usual. Zach took Spike and I got Thor back to sleep.
The next morning we had a conversation:
Me: "What happened last night, Isaac?"
Spike: "I don't know, Momma. What?"
Me: "You got up and got in Baby Anders's crib. That is not acceptable. You may not go downstairs at night. If you wake up, you come get Momma and Daddy."
Spike: "Okay..... Is my apple still there?"
Me: ??????
Spike: (running to the dining room) "It is! See! Here it is!"
Uh huh. Isaac apparently had been up for quite awhile by the time I found him in Anders's crib. When I really looked around the house, I realized that he had done at least the following things on his nighttime adventure:
1. gotten an apple out of the fridge and eaten part of it at the dining room table,
2. colored in a little journal with a pencil,
3. put a puzzle together in the sun room,
4. and then woken up his baby bro and the rest of the fam.
Oh. my. gosh. This child is what you might call independent. Scary independent.

Oh, how I love your stories! :) That's a great one!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment the other day. Sometimes your blog won't let me leave a comment - not sure why.
Patiently waiting for baby boy...
Oh roomie....it sounds like my sisters adventures with her little guy who is almost 3. Here are a few highlights:
ReplyDelete1) Used his daddy's pot of Carmex as hair gel since he saw daddy put goopy stuff in his hair and he figured it must have been that. Took 9 shampoos to get it out.
2) Woke up during nap time and snuck into the bathroom with their jacuzzi tub. He climbed in and squirted all the shampoo in it and then sarted crying when he could not climb out due to it being too slippery.
3) Before doing the above he proceeded to take every tampon and pad out of their boxes and paper and threw them around the bathroom.
Boys are TOO FUN!
Love and miss you!
Sarita your first roomie :-)
