A Conversation

Me: Isaac, do you know what a compliment is?
Spike: Yeah. Tell me.
Me: A compliment is when someone says something nice about you. Like I might say, "Isaac, you're such a sweet boy," or, "Isaac, you have such pretty brown eyes." And do you know what you're supposed to say when someone gives you a compliment?
Spike: What?
Me: You're supposed to say, "Thank you!" Can you give me a compliment?
Spike: (makes a throwing motion with his arm) Here ya go.
Me: No silly, you're supposed to say something nice to me.
Spike: Momma, I like your tongue!
Me: (laughing uncontrollably) Thanks, buddy! I like your tongue too.
Spike: Yeah!
