Summer Vacation

Our summer vacation reminded me once again that the only way to truly relax is to LEAVE home, and all its responsibilities, behind...Oh, and bring along the in-laws who LOVE to clean, organize, plan, and play with my kids.

Our family of four met up with Zach's parents at a lovely lake house near Lake Geneva, Wisconsin for a whole week of swimming, canoeing, paddle-boating, and togetherness!

My new favorite picture of Spike
It's so him!

Anders loves his grandpa!

Isaac would not be left behind from any boat ride

After a long hunt, Isaac and I caught this bright froggy.  I scooped him up with a net, screaming like a little girl the whole time.  Isaac named him "Muzzy the Kid Frog."

It was really too hot for evening fires, but we had to take advantage of the huge fire pit at least once.

I loved the lily pads and flowers. It was a beautiful nook of the lake that we were on.  There were springs there, so the water was crystal clear.  We spotted lots of fish, a few turtles, and many pretty birds.

Karen and David

We got to go waterskiing one day when the owner of the house came to take us out.  I didn't take many pics, unfortunately, but here's Zach tearin' it up.

Karen was a camp counselor one summer at this Covenant camp on Lake Geneva 40 years ago when she and David were dating.  David was up in Alaska that summer, and they kept in touch through letters.  The mail came by boat, so Karen would run down to those docks to see if she had any letters from David.  This was her first time back!

I have a few more vacation photos to post tomorrow.

  1. As I suspected, your pics are SO much better than mine! Thanks for posting them. They make me miss you all - can't wait to see everyone again next week!
