Stories

Something that is unique to my little Spike is his obsession and fascination with stories. Any adult who spends significant time with Spike will be asked time and time again, "Tell me a story about...." If you comply, before you can utter "the end," he'll be asking for another. Often he tells you the whole story first and then wants you to repeat it back to him. And you must be wary of embellishments--they may not be approved by the Story Master.

Usually his stories have to do with someone or something getting lost or hurt. Many of his stories end sadly, but a typical acceptable ending is that suddenly somehow everyone is found and fixed and "then they were happy!"

There's always plenty of drama and sudden mood changes. My boy is blessed with an adorably expressive face, so as we ate our blackberry baked goods yesterday, I snapped a few pics of one story request.

Such a typical Izey face...and a sweet one, don't you think? This far away stare as he concocts more drama for narration is one that I am very familiar with!
