MILESTONE!

Today is Isaac's 5 week birthday (Zach insists I do not understand the definition of a birthday. I tell him every month on the 10th is Isaac's monthly birthday and every Thursday is his weekly birthday. And, yes, I do sing happy birthday on each of those occasions.) This morning he hit a HUGE (to me) milestone; one that I have been waiting for since we brought him home! He SMILED! at ME! more than once! and he wasn't even pooping! (That's when he usually looks like he's smiling--haha.)

I was changing his diaper, babbling away as usual, and I wiped some drool off his face. He was looking at me so I started playing with him, and lo and behold, a beautiful grin spread across his sweet little face. I started cracking up and doing the same thing again and again, and he kept on smiling! I cried. I know, I'm a dork. But you've got to understand that we mommas keep giving and giving and giving to our infants with very little in the way of recognition from them...until that first smile. It was awesome. As soon as we can capture it on film, I'll post a picture.
