Random Tidbits

I wanted to include all these little stories, but none merits its own post. So here's some random stuff going on...

  1. Spike is a sicky. Today his first cold really took hold. He's not too fussy, but he's got a runny nose, watery eyes, and keeps sneezing and coughing. I hate it.
  2. He can sit up on his own! Friday he was "tripoding" and I gave him a toy. He grabbed it with both hands and stayed upright for several minutes! He's still a bit wobbly, but can do it for longer every day. I feel really proud of this accomplishment and attribute his early achievement to excellent mothering. ;)
  3. On Thursday morning, I took Isaac to visit Harper. It was REALLY fun. More fun than I thought it would be, actually. Isaac was great, I saw several teacher friends, and a lot of my old students. I also went to visit my old classroom and was thrilled to see that the new teacher seems very nice and capable and is making use of a lot of good stuff that I left there--hundreds of nice binders, the classroom library I had created, and the bean bags in the "cozy reading corner." One of the English teachers who has my students this year gave me the best compliment I could hope for. He told me that I must have done a great job teaching these kids because they really know their stuff. I felt great! It was fun to say hi to people and fun to go home with my baby.
  4. It is too hot. I'm all for warm, sunny, summer days, but it's OCTOBER! I have my fall sweaters out! What is going on?
  5. Zach and I went to two thirtieth birthday parties last night. Both were with awesome friends from church. Uncle Joshy and Godfather Peter babysat. The first party was all fellow parents, the second almost all singles. We reflected on the way home that both groups of people are really important in our lives right now. It was really fun to be out celebrating with everyone.
