What's in Store

Last week it actually felt like fall for once. Isaac and I had been putting off getting a city sticker for our new car (still haven't taken pictures, I just realized), so we really needed to get it done last Monday. After that errand, we also had to go pick up Hilda and drive her to the Ark. Determined not to be late, as I notoriously am, I was running around the condo after Spike's nap, getting him all bundled up to brave the cold. Finally ready to walk out the door, armed with diaper bag, all the forms for the car, and a bundled baby, I hear a loud, messy SQUIRT! coming from my beautiful baby's rear end.

I grabbed the camera just to share the frustration I felt. You can't see them in this picture, but Isaac was also wearing shoes. Do you know how hard it is to get baby shoes on? Here's Spike just before getting completely undressed and redressed AGAIN. I think the dirty look he's giving me means, "Mother, put that camera down and change this diaper!"
When I told this story to Zach, he said, "It's only going to get worse you know. This winter he'll be even more bundled up." It's true. This was only a small taste of what's in store for us as the snow begins to fall. I'm going to need a couple hours' notice before I have to be anywhere.

We did not get to the City Clerk's that day to get our city sticker. By the time Spike was all bundled up again, we only had 30 minutes before we had to get Hilda. So we went for a walk in the park. Here's Isaac enjoying his first truly fall day. I love that smile from behind the mimi. With smiles like that, I'll change his clothes and diaper as many times as he wants.
