I don't have much recollection of bitchiness when I was pregnant with Isaac. Tears? Yes. Wanting to chuck a paint brush at my husband? No.
Unfortunately (for Zach especially) I cannot say the same thing about this pregnancy. It was shortly after we found out I was pregnant that the paint brush incident almost occurred. In his calm wisdom, Zach took a short leave of absence from our home while I cooled off. Our marriage survived.
The other day poor Z got another taste of my rollercoaster of emotions. We were coming home from a doctor's appointment, which had taken much longer than it should have, and we were all hungry, tired, and crabby. Me perhaps more than the others. Zach kept trying to start conversations with me. Ugh. How dare he? So finally I said, "Can you just stop talking to me, please?" (Despite my polite language, I don't think my tone was very loving.)
My kind husband stopped talking.
A few minutes later, feeling rather unwanted and ignored, and totally forgetting my previous request (seriously), I whined, "Honey....you stopped talking to me!"
"Um, I'm pretty sure the last thing you said to me was, 'Stop talking to me!'"
"Oh yeah. Well, you can now."
Poor Zach.

At least you have pregnancy as an excuse! ;)
ReplyDeleteoh jeez... kate, i love you! and i totally feel for you! i am so sorry... some people say all the emotions mean a girl! anyway, when i was like that, i had nora! i am so sorry for you... it got better for me as the pregnancy wore on!
ReplyDeletehang in there Zach. ;) And maybe wear some protective gear to avoid any paintbrush "incidents"
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the paintbrush experience almost happened because you are selling your condo and getting it ready. I wish I could say it gets easier, but it doesn't. Just don't move the week before your due date as we did. Anytime you want to vent about being a mom to a toddler, moving, and being pregnant all at the same time, you have a listening ear!
ReplyDeleteWhat does it say about me that Scott and I have this conversation ALL THE TIME and I am not even close to being pregnant? Hmmm... I don't think I want to know the answer to that...
