Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Saturday with Zach's 29th birthday. We had a quiet, relaxing day. We were going to go to the beach, but Spike and my previous day's adventure there led to some wicked thigh-chaffing (Isaac's, not mine) and we didn't want him trapped in a sandy, wet bathing suit again. So we decided to go to the Children's Museum. But the weather was so perfectly beautiful, we couldn't stomach spending the afternoon indoors. So on our way there, we picked up some sandwiches and made an impromptu change of plans--a picnic in the forest preserve.

It was perfect. Isaac ran around a big open field, first picking up trash and bringing it to us (he's a very conscientious park guest), then pushing his stroller in circles, and finally throwing his ball and running after it...over and over and over. We also took a long walk during which I tested the limits of our stroller and tried to do a little off-roadin'. Once Zach had to start carrying it over creeks, he made me turn back to the paved path.

After a little nap for both boys we went to a fabulous pizza joint for dinner and the best dessert in town--kinda like the Cookie Monster from Cheddars for all you Kentwoodians. After the last month's craziness, a little quality family time was (I hope) just what Zach needed on his birthday. Happy Birthday, Honey!
