Just a quick update on Thor.
We had a scan last Thursday and one today. Both were much shorter appointments (finally!) and revealed no signs of hydrops or anything else of concern. The tech we had last Thursday was Sarah, who has measured the CCAM a lot. We like her. She was trying to measure pessimistically, as Dr. Crumbleholme had urged, and she got a CVR of 2.0 (woah). So she measured again and got 1.7. The truth probably lies somewhere in between.
Today a tech we hadn't seen in awhile, Wendy, measured the CVR at 1.5. These numbers are starting to lose their meaning to us. But Dr. C reminded us that the numbers aren't really of concern anymore and what we're really looking for at this point are those signs of hydrops, which we definitely are not seeing. That is good.
We met a new doc today, Dr. N. He's the 4th of 7 doctors in the high risk practice that we've met. It was kind of annoying because we've had at least 8 appointments there now, and he was explaining things to us like we'd never heard them before. I honestly felt like we had a better grasp of our situation than he did. I was waiting for him to say, "Your baby has what's called a CCAM." We know, dude.
On the upside, it is so cool to see Thor twice a week. He usually kicks and bucks like crazy while they're trying to measure him, and it's the strangest feeling to be able to see and feel that happening inside of me at the same time. I take great secret pleasure in him making it difficult for the doctors and techs to get good measurements. It makes me feel like he's strong and a fighter. I lie there thinking, "You tell 'em, Thor!"

Is there a delay from when you feel Thor move to when you see it on the screen? That's cool.
ReplyDeleteNope. No delay. It's pretty sweet.
ReplyDeleteAwesome news. I think about that little boy all the time, and I realized that this is definitely one of the joys of Grandbaby #2. With Izey, it was all too new to imagine specifics, but with Thor, I'm seeing him in his room, seeing you and Zach trying to juggle two little boys, and seeing Izey being told "Gentle!" You'll have great stories to tell Thor about these months of waiting and cheering him to grow strong and healthy. Of course, he'll roll his eyes every time you want to tell those stories, but tell them anyway - I do!!!

It is so awesome to see your faith and the faith of those around you uplifting you! You amaze and encourage me with your faith!
ReplyDeleteI like the new title. I can't wait to see you and Zach struggling with 2 car seats, 2 babies(because Izey will still be a baby, 2 splashy baths and stollers and twice the fun! I love Thor so much already, I love it that he is fiesty! You go Thor!
ReplyDeleteLove Mom
I didn't even notice the title until I saw your Mom's comment. That's so sweet, Kate and her boys!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I read Dr. Crumbleholme, I feel like I'm reading a Harry Potter book!
We love you, and the men in your life! :)
You tell 'em, Thor! :)
