Pumpkin Patch Fun

It promised to a be a cold and rainy day, and all SIX of our friends (and their kids) who were supposed to come with us canceled on us (boo friends--you know who you are!), BUT Zach and I dragged our butts out of bed early last Saturday and made the one and a half hour drive out to the country for some good ol' fashioned Pumpkin Patch Fun. (You could tell it was the country by all the McCain & Palin signs in people's yards. Oh yeah, and the corn fields.)

We had a blast. I think God knew I needed an outdoor family fun day because the weather got all of the rain out of its system the night before and we had a partly sunny day to enjoy. As you can see by how bundled Isaac is, it was still cold, but not cold enough to put a damper on our day.

You will be able to tell by the pics who the photographer was. We took 65 pictures and I'm only in three. It was really fun to watch Zach enjoy this outing with Isaac. I get to do things like this any time I want, but planning a field trip on a Saturday is a rare occurrence for us. Zach and Isaac had a blast and I mostly watched, which was pretty much my definition of the perfect day.

So I know my kid is a chunk, but he looked extra chubby in his hat, coat, and mittens. It was totally the "I can't put my arms down!" scene from A Christmas Story, but Isaac didn't even care. There was too much to do!

Peek-a-boo Punkin'
"I don't wanna stand there, Dad!"
Silly boys
Staying warm on the hay ride
Driving the tractor
playing in the corn box
(he really loved it, even if you can't tell by his expression!)
The above pic cracks me up because it was the little tiny maze where you were not supposed to make any left turns. A puzzle, if you will. So you know Isaac didn't care a thing about it, but Zach had to try to figure it out. (He didn't, by the way!)
I carried Isaac just about long enough to take a few pictures before I gave the heavy guy back to daddy. We were in the corn maze, which had just enough puddles throughout it that we never would have made it out if we had let Isaac walk. He had to splash in every single one, of course.
I think this is my favorite of the day.
This is Isaac just before he got knocked over by the goats!
My head is cut off in this one because the goat had just kicked me in the crotch and Zach was asking me if I was OK! The petting zoo was NOT my favorite!
Climbing Tire Mountain!
Isaac was scared of the big John Deer man.
If we were at all near it, he wouldn't take his eyes off of it!
We've decided this will be a new family tradition!
Check out this pumpkin, Mom!
Our punkin' and his pumpkin
I love the above pic--that smile is because Zach just put the pumpkin in the wagon with him!

(By the way, thanks for the idea, Melissa!)
