I love so much of what Spike is like at this age, especially his language development. He can repeat almost anything and literally says new words every day. I'm not sure if this story will be as funny in the retelling, but it had us cracking up last night.
Zach and I were chilling on the couch watching Isaac play and he suddenly bent over and tooted. Just trying to be funny and not really expecting anything from him, I said, "I heard that toot. How rude! Say 'excuse me.'"
Isaac continued playing with his mega blocks and toddling around, but without hesitation he said, clear as day, "Snooze me."
Zach and I shot amused glances at each other and then started cracking up. Isaac didn't even realize he had done anything funny, but thought it was pretty great that we were laughing so hard.
We had a scan of Thor with the ultrasound tech who did our very first one at the midwife's office when we found out about the mass. Then a doctor who is brand new to the practice came in to try to get a good doppler, which is how they see whether the flow through the ductus venosus is going in the right direction. She poked around for a long time, but had never used their kind of ultrasound machines before, so she didn't even get close to a good image. Finally they called in Sarah, our favorite tech, who got a good reading in about 10 seconds. Sarah to the rescue!
Everything looked good. No hydrops. CVR was 1.5. The number is just bouncing around like a ping pong ball now, but we know the CCAM is not growing too rapidly at least.
Because the ultrasound only shows a one-dimensional plane at a time, it's hard to see how your baby really looks. If the tech shows the plane just in front of the baby's face, you can see his mouth and the tip of his nose really well, but if you try to see the whole baby's face at once, you have to show a deeper plane and end up seeing a lot of bone, which just looks like a scary skeleton face.
Today while the tech was measuring the tumor, I could see Thor's hands up by his face. It was a view from that plane just in front of his face, so I could see his mouth and nose clearly. His mouth was moving around and he was sometimes sucking on his fingers. Then he opened his mouth really wide, like a big yawn. It was so very sweet! I love that I get to see him so often.
