Okay, so the trend of Isaac going to sleep better when Daddy's home is officially over. Also, we decided that if we're going to make the transition, we better stick to our guns about it because if we start using the crib as a back up we're only prolonging the process.
The last two nights it took us an hour and a half to get the kid to sleep. Monday night he was up half a dozen times and on Tuesday morning he woke up at 5:30 am (they still make a 5:30 am?), an hour and half earlier than usual. We...were...all...tired.
After a grueling 3 hour ordeal at naptime today, which ended in Izey crying and nobody napping, I was absolutely dreading bedtime this evening. Here's what ended up happening from my point of view:
6:15 pm - overheard a wild tubby time with daddy
6:30 pm - smeared lotion on skin, stuffed chubby limbs into jammies, plugged a mouth with a mimi, and read four books to Izey, who got heavier and heavier throughout the process
6:56 pm - tucked Izey in and participated in the following dialogue:
"Izey sad."
"Don't be sad, Izey. You're in your big boy bed and you have Baby, Baa, your fishies, your blankies..."
"mimi?"
"Yes, and you have mimi. You're going to sleep good in your big boy bed."
6:57 pm - witnessed a good sign: he rolled over on his side to face away from me
6:58 pm - uttered a desperate, "please God..." as I closed the door behind me
7:28 pm - breathed a disbelieving sigh of relief
He's really asleep.
Go Izey! The girls got a puppy on Sunday, so I feel your pain!
