29 Today!

Today I begin the last year of my twenties. Yikes!

It's been a great day so far. I woke up to realize that it was 7:30 and the other half of the bed was empty. (That is some serious sleep in time, folks!) Shortly after I opened my eyes I heard Spike's happy shouting, "We're bringing you eggs, Momma!" which was followed by him running back and forth from me to Daddy, who was carrying the tray. Spike also brought me a present which he kindly opened for me. Anders peeked over the edge of the bed and grinned whenever he caught my eye.

Then they left me alone to eat in peace. Ahhh. That was a nice touch. I came downstairs and the boys happily played as I wrote in my prayer journal. Then Isaac and I played a pretend game with various stuffed animals: The crocodile tried to eat the baby piggy and the other animals devised ways to save their tiny friend (offering the crocodile a doughnut instead, tickling him, inviting them to their party, etc.).

Next Spike watched Sesame Street while I put Anders down for a nap, checked email, and talked to Meghan on the phone. When Anders woke up, we played outside, went running to the beach and played there for a bit. This time Anders was awake and was fascinated by the birds, sand and snow. It wasn't as pretty as last time, but it was warmer, which I'll take! Here's some photos:

this is Isaac's "smile for a picture" smile--could be worse!

I took this picture when Isaac was down on the beach--
don't worry, I didn't let him get that close to the water!

We didn't make it to the light house today because Isaac started melting down: "Momma, I really really really really really really want you!" and "Hold me!" and "I'm staaarrrrrving!" So we went home for lunch. I had my favorite lunch--chips, cheese, refried beans, and salsa.

Isaac never fell asleep for naptime (uh oh) but stayed in his bed and periodically called, "Momma! Can I come out now?" for about 2 1/2 hours. He was sooooo sleepy this evening and had a slightly earlier bedtime.

Zach came home early from work just to hang with me and the boys. He made me a nice dinner and after we put the boys to bed I went out for drinks with Liz. It had been waaaaay too long since we'd had a girls' night, and it was great. We went to the Violet Hour (thanks for the recommendation, Tracy!) for gourmet drinks, and not only were the beverages and atmosphere amazing, but the company and conversation were just what I needed.

Happy Birthday to me!
