Breaking and Entering

I knew this was going to happen sooner or later.

This morning I was running late (as usual) getting Isaac out the door for his 10:30 doctor's appointment. It was about 10:26 as I hustled out the front door of our place to put Spike in his car seat stroller. Out of habit, I closed the door behind me. Then I turned to my baby and calmly said, "Oh sh*t, Isaac. Mommy just locked us out of the condo." I had left my keys, phone, diaper bag...everything just inside the door. Thank God that Isaac had just woken up from his nap, eaten, and had a diaper change. It really couldn't have happened at a better time from his standpoint.

Thank God for awesome neighbors, too. I went upstairs to Michelle's condo. She is a really nice mother of three. She was embarrassed because her house was supposedly a mess, but I was like, "Girl, shoot! You got three kids!" (OK, I didn't say it like that to her, but I was thinking it that way.) Her toddler was playing Memory on the floor buck naked. Well, not so much playing Memory as playing with his weeny. Ah, a picture of what's to come for us.

Anyway, I used their phone to call Zach, but Jimmy (the dad of the family) asked if I had a window open. Oh yeah! So I handed off Isaac to Michelle and went out front to see if I had any windows open. I did! So I just lifted the screen and crawled right in. Hmmm. It's this easy to break into my house? Good thing we have an alarm! Ha!

Well, I got my stuff, picked up Isaac, and was on my way. I only ended up being 15 minutes late for the doctor's appointment. What a morning!

  1. Been there...done that. Thank God you got in! I locked myself out in March, on a day I was babysitting Charlotte. I also didn't have a cell- no neighbors were home. I did have change in the stroller downstairs- THANK GOD! I had to us a pay phone, which Marc only answered after 8 calls 'cause he didn't recognize the number. He was in a cab on the way to lunch with a coworker and directed the cabin to first come north (from downtown). In the meantime I used change to by Ava and Charlotte their first McDonalds (later to find out Charlotte was to NEVER eat this food that Greg believes is of Satan.) Marc arrived thereafter, coworker in hand to let us in! If only there were a way to do a hideakey with a condo...so far we haven't found a safe option....

  3. It was just me and Sam when we locked ourselves out of the house. I tried to send Sam in through the living room window to go unlock the back door. Sam ran to the back door, smiled, waved, said "HI DAH-YEE" then ran back to the living room to play with his cars.

Sam's weeny is his best friend.
