He Knows Me...

Anyone who has visited our condo in the last few months has probably seen something like this on our refrigerator marker board: "Reason #87 that I love my hubby..." I've been counting down from 99 all the reason that my honey is my honey. The reason I love Zach today (#25) is because he knows me so well, it's scary.

After Isaac was tucked in for the night, Zach made us a nice dinner complete with a candle, some wine and ...tator tot casserole. So romantic, I know. After dinner we were sitting around talking and I got upset about something (which I will post about when I have more time) and started crying. 20 minutes later, after I had been comforted, I said with a twinkle in my eye, "Don't move, I'll be back in 30 seconds!" and ran down the hallway.

"Where are you going?" Zach called after me.
"You'll see," I replied.
"I bet I know," he laughed.
"What do you think I'm doing?" I challenged as I opened the silverware drawer.
"You're getting spoons, aren't you?"
I laughed as I opened the freezer.
He said, "and you're not even going to bother with the bowls, right?"

I came back to the table with two quarts of ice cream and two spoons. "How did you know!?"

"I just know you! I thought to myself, 'Well, let's see...20 minutes ago she was crying, then she suddenly remembered that we had ice cream,' and as soon as I saw that look in your eye, I knew."

We polished off both the mint chocolate chip and the oreo cookies and cream.

I love my hubby.

  5. Uh oh. Does that qualify as a "stupid Tim thing" to say?

  6. The "poor Zach" comment was in reference to you crying one minute and enjoying ice cream the next.

  8. Tim does have a point regarding the emotional roller coaster that Van Dusen women are famous for.

Good thing we like roller coasters.

  13. The comment stream had me laughing almost as much as the post! Thanks for a great idea on how I can keep myself attuned to the great reasons why I love MY hubby, Kate - and an idea for dessert tonight! ;) For the record, Steve loooooooooooooooooves tater tot casserole. He'd never had it before we got married, and now we ALWAYS have to have a bag of tater tots in the freezer. :)
