Trying to get Isaac back on his regularly scheduled programming has been a bear. He used to go down for naps and bed without crying and sleep through the night. Not so these days. We're back at square one after a month of being sick and traveling all over creation.
Almost exactly one month ago, the week before I left for Jamaica, Isaac got really sick. He woke up at night and when I lifted him from his crib, he felt like a little heater. That night I sat up with him for a couple of hours so that he could sleep in a more upright position and breathe easier.
The next week I left for Jamaica and Daddy and Granini were in charge. When I got back, Isaac was still a little stuffy and coughing. We went to my parents' house for Christmas and I came home 5 days later with a nasty cold myself. Just when Izey seemed to be getting better, he got the cold back from me.
Two weeks after Christmas and four weeks after Isaac's initial fever, we're both still sick and neither of us are sleeping through the night. Isaac coughs in his sleep so hard that he gags himself (and, amazingly, stays asleep).
What makes matters worse is that Isaac is learning to crawl, but he can't go forward, so when he "practices" in his crib, he gets all jammed up in one corner and is not particularly happy about it. Yesterday morning, when he was supposed to be napping, I swear he had to be doing cartwheels in order to get into the positions in which I found him.
Yesterday afternoon was the straw that broke the momma-refusing-to-call-the-doctor's back. Isaac woke up from his nap with an oozey, puffy eye. I called my mom, I called the doctor, and in about 45 minutes, I'll be at his office. I'll let you know how it goes.

Sick, Sicker, Sickest

Sorry he is a sicko--the firs winter is the first, and those fevers are always tough! Hopefully, he will be on the mend soon. Joshua is still getting up at all hours of the night after getting used to having us come running at the drop of a hat when he was sick!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I bet he has pink eye! :( Charlotte had that right after Christmas, poor kid. She too, has been fighting sickness, from pink eye to a fever, to the same nasty cough that Isaac has. The worse part is there is nothing to do for a cough but comfort measures. We take Charlotte into the bathroom and turn on the hot shower. The steam seems to help, plus we got a humidifier for her room. I hope you guys all feel better soon!
