Our boy visited the doctor yesterday morning. He's still big.
Weight: 26.3 lbs, 96%
Height: 31.5 inches, 98%
Head: 48 cm, 96%
He also had to get blood drawn because they test for anemia at 10 months. It was so pitiful. He got his first band aid and first sticker. It says, "I don't monkey around."
Here's a little update on what Spike is like at this age. I'm including some of the details that I want to remember as he grows as well as answers to questions everybody asks me about him.
He has 6 teeth--4 on top and 2 on bottom--and we recently had to buy crib railing teethers so that he'd stop chewing off chunks of his crib.
His hair is growing fast. When his hair is wet or when he's warm, he gets little curls in the back. (adorable)
I joke that Spike is currently pretty much a vegetarian, simply because meat is harder to chew. His diet consists almost entirely of finger foods like peas, cheese, tofu, bananas, etc. But in the past few days he's been incredibly interested in whatever Zach and I are eating, so we're sharing more. I'm still nursing him regularly. I usually nurse him around 5am, 7am, 11am, 2pm, and 7pm. His bedtime is 7pm. I plan on starting to wean him to cow's milk (thus avoiding the need for any formula) around his birthday.
"Da da da" means, "I am happy," or "I am sad," or "Daddy," or "Mommy," or... anything else he might want to say. Once in awhile he throws in a "Tuh tuh tuh," or a "Ba ba ba," or a rare but treasured "Ma ma ma." We realized when we volunteered at the church nursery that Isaac has a deep voice compared to other babies. Kinda funny.
If left to his own devices, Spike will happily play with a little plastic ball for a long time. He drops it purposefully to let it roll away and then chases it around the condo. He also has four nesting cars, but the little green one is his absolute favorite. If there's a bunch of toys around, you can count on him playing with either the balls or the green car.
He is very kissy and snuggly, especially to any animal or fellow baby that holds still long enough for him to nuzzle it with his forehead. Here he is nuzzling Aunt Carrie.
He has a baby doll named Michael and if we say, "Izey, where's Michael?" he will look around for him until he sees him. Then he goes and picks him up and kisses him.
Isaac also likes to play "Uh." Sammy, my nephew, calls wrestling "playing Uh" because when you tackle someone you go, "Uh!" Isaac plays Uh by himself (rolling all over the floor, pinning his own arm behind his back...) or with Zach or me (climbing all over us as we sit or lay on the floor). He's turning into such a boy.
Another favorite game is sitting in a pile of clothes and throwing them frantically all over the place. One day he emptied his cupboard of all the bibs, towels, and wash cloths. It was the most fun ever.
His stranger anxiety really only lasted a few weeks, although he still prefers to be in Momma's arms when someone new comes along. Apparently there is an exception for my mom, around whom he doesn't need any time to warm up.
Isaac loves his daddy. Isaac and I were gone for 4 1/2 days and when we came home, he wanted to be in Daddy's arms all evening. Anytime Zach smiles at him, Isaac laughs. Zach can get more giggles than anyone, even Momma.

He also started dancing and bouncing more. He'll even start dancing to the beat of his own banging. Any time a fun new beat comes on, he starts grooving.
That's our boy so far. If you haven't noticed, we're a little crazy about him.
