Spike Turns TWO!

My biggest baby turned two on Mother's Day, and we had a busy weekend celebrating both events. Both sets of grandparents, Spike's uncle, and his godparents were here for the party. Isaac had a fun-filled day that was a wee-bit overwhelming for him. He partied like a champ, though.

We celebrated Isaac's birthday on Saturday so everyone could be in town for it. We began the day with a trip to the zoo, which was a little chilly, but it's always so fun to see Isaac's reaction to the animals. Granini took a couple of pictures of me and Isaac that are my new favorites:

After a long nap that had to be interrupted for dinner (!), we all met at Leona's, a Chicago Italian restaurant that is very kid-friendly.

Isaac wasn't sure how to feel about everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to him.

Then we all went home for cake, ice cream, and prezzies. We sang "Happy Birthday" again and Spike was right on the verge of tears. When we were done, he went "hee hee hee" and it was somewhere between a laugh and a cry. Poor sweet boy!

He and his god-sister/cousin/friend :) Eva played hard and got all sweaty and riled up before bedtime. Poor Eva--Isaac thinks she's big enough to play "pile" despite our best efforts to keep him off of her.

When we were tucking Isaac into bed that night, we said a special prayer for him and I felt so emotional. I love the little man Isaac is becoming and I'm so proud of how smart and sweet and fun he is. I just love that kid so much. It was a little hard for me to feel torn between taking care of Anders (at sometimes inconvenient times) and celebrating Isaac, but I'm so blessed to get to be with them all the time, not just on special occasions. I'm a lucky momma!
